Cast All Your Anxiety On Him 1 Peter 5:7
Cast all your anxiety on Him 1 Peter 5:7
We all have times when Satan attacks, causing us anxiety and fear. For me, it’s when it’s quiet and I am alone. As well as when I am at church. It’s always during worship because Satan knows this is the most meaningful time of service for me. God often speaks to me through music so of course, Satan wants to attack when God is speaking. He wants to confuse us and distract us from the blessings that God has for us.
When these times of anxiety and fear come I know that they aren’t God. God is peace! I try to stop the spiral as soon as it starts by rebuking Satan and claiming Jesus over myself. Sometimes the music will be playing during church, my hands are lifted and all I am saying over and over is JESUS, JESUS, JESUS! And Satan flees. He tries all the time to pull me away from worship, all the more reason to fight every attempt he makes.
I know that anxiety can be debilitating, I am not making light of it in any way. I have had times of terrible anxiety. When my kids were little there was a span of several weeks that I didn’t leave my house, not even to get groceries. My heart felt like it would explode when I thought of leaving my house, I thought I was dying due to my anxiety being so bad. As I have grown in my faith my anxiety has come and gone in waves during difficult times of my life. The only difference between then and now is that I know how to fight it.

One of the best ways to fight is to stay in God’s word. God’s word is powerful and true! Journaling is a great way to put down on paper what you are feeling, write down all your fears and worries. Journaling is also a great way to start a conversation with God. When you are finished journaling pray and give it all to God. Also going to a Christian counselor has really helped me. After my seizures in February of this year, I found myself living in fear and having so much anxiety because I was worried about having another one. I am happy to say it’s been six months and I am living in peace over it now. My counselor has really helped me break down my fears and cast them out.
For 8 years I taught faith-based yoga and one exercise I did with my students I still do often. It helps to give things over to God, give it a try…. Lie down and close your eyes, then visualize a beautifully gift-wrapped box. It can look like anything you want it to, with a huge bow, lots of ribbons, glitter anything you like. Then visualize your hands removing the lid to the box, one by one place in the box the things you need to give over to God. Take your time and make sure that you give it all to Him, don’t hold back on anything. Visualize your hands placing the lid back on the box and God’s hands coming down to take the box from you. Let Him take it, give it all up to Him. Pray and ask God to help you rest in His peace.
Be blessed, my friends ❤️
