May The Lord Bless You And Keep You
May the Lord bless you and keep you
I am blessed to be on staff at our church and work in children’s ministry. A few Sundays ago it was move up Sunday, this is when the kids all move up to the next grade. One of my favorite things to do on Sunday is lead kid’s worship. Myself and another volunteer were worshiping up in stage and had our hands lifted in praise when I noticed several of the kindergarteners were watching us and slowly lifted their hands. It was their first day in this new environment and they were a little unsure about what was going on but they got right into worshiping Jesus, it was by far the most precious thing I have seen in a while. They stared at us the whole time so they knew what to do. Never forget the eyes of children watch everything we do.
This makes me think of The Blessing By Kari Jobe and Cody Carnes. This is a prayer that you can pray over your family, for a thousand generations. Think of the impact you could have over so many generations to come by one prayer!
May His favor be upon you
And a thousand generations
And your family and your children
And their children, and their children
I love this line in the song, God is ALWAYS with us! And like Kari Jobe says in the beginning of the song, this is the heart of the Father over us as his children.
He never leaves us.
He goes before us,
He is behind us,
He is with us, always and through every trial and every celebration! So if God is always with us we shouldn’t fear or worry about anything. God’s got our back, He never leaves us!
And always remember that He is for us! God wants the absolute best for each and every one of us. If God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31).
God will bless us and keep us. Blessed means highly favored. God will bless us. We can’t just fall back to God when our lives are a mess, He has to be a constant in our lives, He has to be first.
Did you know that when we sing Amen it means that we are receiving the blessing? The Hebrew definition of amen means certainty, truth and to verify. As you sing you are praying this blessing over your family and for the next 1,000 generations, can you imagine the impact of this?!
The Lord bless you and keep you
Make His face shine upon you
And be gracious to you
The Lord turn His face toward you
And give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26
May God bless you and bring you peace.

So good! My favorite part of the song is when she sings he goes before you, behind you, all around you, in you. He is for you, which she repeats over and over. Knowing God is for me gives me the strength and confidence to go forward to trust Him with everything. ❤️
I have reveled in The Blessing in all its forms on YouTube. I rejoice with the multiple choirs from many different towns and countries, and the many languages. An added thought about the scripture on which it is based. I think verse 27 is as important as the actual blessing verse: “So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.” As a principle, it seems God is saying when we bless others in this way, we are putting God’s name on them and He will bless those we’re praying for.
